Washington, February 3, 2015. The threat of ISIS is not a new topic for conversation. For about three years now, the topic of ISIS or ISIL has been floating in the air. Whether in news articles about Iraq, Syria, or even as an excuse for a coalition of countries to become involved in Iraq, ISIS has been the talk of the town. However, with all the attention it has received, little analysis and conclusion about its operation have been obtained. The terror organizations dynamics have undermined all and every theory of foreign policy. ISIS cannot be characterized in any terrorist organization model, yet its ability to expand exceeds all mental capacity. The organization uses western frameworks to cripple the nations once deemed invincible. Through social media and other propaganda, ISIS is robbing the west of its once loyal citizens, and there is little to no action authorities can take. It’s been estimated that each passing night, the United States spends $7 million on drone attacks targeting ISIS operations. Yet, ISIS proceeded as strong as ever.
Abd al Wahhab once said, “Those who would not conform…should be killed, their wives and daughters violated, and their possessions confiscated,” and today, ISIS is doing just that. Not only is the organization massacring all its way, violating the wives and children of those who protest and confiscating all that it wants, ISIS is seizing the mind and soul of those at a distance. With each heartless slaughtering, a video is released, showing exactly how ISIS stole the life out of those it deemed guilty. The videos, coming as they may, show all of us how little we can do in stopping ISIS activities. We are forced to sit and watch as ISIS members separate a head from a body or burn a human alive. Not only are the videos captured, but with each passing sacrifice, the quality gets better and better. It is almost as though an award worthy movie is being made. The videos use high end technologies, with multiple cameras. It would seem as though videos details were thought out deliberately made to remain in the viewers mind for days.
On the third of February, ISIS released a 22 minute video of its latest achievement: the burning of Jordanian pilot, Moaz al-Kasasbeh. Days previous, news sources announced the beheading of Kenji Goto, a renowned Japanese journalist. And days before that, Haruna Yukawa another Japanese captive had been beheaded as well. It seems there is no end to the heartlessness of the terror organization. Today, Jordan has little to do but to “vow revenge,” for its lost citizen. Now the world remains at aw, watching from an electrical screen as al-Kasasbeh stands in a metal cage, burning alive just after admitting his supposed “guilt”.
ISIS in a 22 minute video pointed to the alliance of the Jordanian king with the United States, using that fact to justify the brutal action and foreshadowing further violence toward anyone who does not follow the ISIS path of inhumanity.
